During 2013 we introduced our “Rock UK Bursary Fund” which has been developed to help assist individuals who may have difficulties in attending their visit to a Rock UK centre because of financial considerations.
Who can apply?
Individuals who are eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) can apply to the Bursary Fund, but a supporting letter should also be included to indicate how other funds (ie Pupil Premium) are also being used to support this individual. If you wish to apply for funding assistance for an individual who is not in receipt of FSM we will consider this where need is demonstrated in a supporting letter.
How much is awarded?
Bursaries of up to a maximum of 80% of the Net. course fee for the individual can be offered. This covers accommodation, board and lodging, specialist activity equipment and transport whilst on activity sessions but not travel to and from the Centre.
As this fund is sustained through voluntary donations and therefore varies from year to year, Rock UK will only commit bursary funding to the current academic year, and all financial support provided by the bursary scheme is subject to available funds.
How and when to apply
Trip organisers must complete and return their application form together with a supporting letter of application to Rock UK.
The application may be for individuals attending different Rock UK centres. In the first instance we would advise groups to submit their applications by the end of September for the coming academic year (ie Sept – July). An application can be considered at any time during the academic year, but after September much of the Bursary fund for the year may have been allocated.
