World famous cricketer Henry Olonga is our third Rock Star Ambassador and joined us in 2013.
Henry became the youngest player and first black cricketer to play for Zimbabwe in 1995 making his international debut and helping Zimbabwe win its first ever Test victory. In 2003, along with team mate Andy Flower Henry wore a black armband in a Cricket World Cup match to protest against the policies of Zimbabwe’s government. He was forced to flee Zimbabwe from impending threats.
When asked to be an ambassador Henry said “Rock UK gets my thumbs up because having played sport for a living, I know the importance of the outdoors and physical activity on our development, health and wellbeing. The thing that really gets me excited however is that Rock UK have a holistic approach that in particular feeds the spiritual aspects of life, which is of great importance in our world today.”
He became a Christian in his teens at a youth camp and enjoys travelling as an evangelist. He is married to Tara and is a keen musician having released several albums including a gospel album.
