Commercial Manager (part-time) – Summit Centre, South Wales

We currently have a part-time (0.4 full-time equivalent or two days per week) vacancy for a key member of the Centre Leadership Team at our Summit Centre near Merthyr Tydfil in South Wales. The successful applicant will have overall responsibility to develop effective commercial, community and faith-based relationships at Summit Centre between the centre and its partners and stakeholders; including groups, funders, supporters and churches.Key responsibilities include:

  • To confidently communicate our charitable objects, mission, vision and Christian ethos both to a Christian audience and to those of other faiths or none.
  • To actively establish effective mission partnerships. This will involve making presentations from time to time.
  • To lead and manage an excellent sales team.
  • To develop a sales & marketing strategy, developing new customers whilst delivering excellent service to existing groups.
  • With support from the Head of Marketing & Communications, set and achieve fundraising targets.
  • To advocate a culture of Christian devotion and discipleship to other staff.
  • To manage and oversee the centre’s café.
  • To be a key public face of Rock UK.

It is expected that this post will become full-time over the next 18 months.

This role is subject to an Occupational Requirement (OR) that the successful applicant should be a practising Christian.

Salary £10,000 (£25,000pa full-time equivalent)

Freelance Instructors - Summit Centre, South Wales

We are currently looking for a couple of freelance instructors to supplement our permanent team of instructors at Summit Centre.

Freelance staff are involved in instructing both in the climbing wall and on our new Aerial Adventure (High Ropes) course, floor-walking and covering reception.

We have opportunities available for both occasional and regular shifts.

Freelance staff should have an interest in climbing and sharing their passion for this sport with others.  They should have completed their CWA or SPA training.  Support is available to help gain the necessary qualifications.

Centre Assistant – Carroty Wood, Kent

Rock UK Adventure Centres Ltd is looking to appoint a full time Centre Assistant at our centre in Tonbridge, Kent.

The successful applicant will work under the direction of the Facilities Manager to help ensure the comfort and safety of our guests, and that the centre is well presented. The applicant will also assist with office tasks,  lifeguarding and stocking the tuck-shop.  They will also be a member of the duty management rota and will welcome groups when they arrive at the centre.

This role is subject to an Occupational Requirement (OR) that the successful applicant should be a practising Christian. 

Salary is in the region of £15,500 per annum, dependent on experience.

Seasonal Instructors - Carroty Wood, Kent

Rock UK Adventure Centres Ltd. is looking to appoint Seasonal Instructors at our centre in Tonbridge, Kent.

Applicants should ideally have experience of working in an outdoor adventure centre, hold a first aid certificate and either an SPA or a BCU Level 1 qualification.

Lead Instructor – Frontier Centre, Northamptonshire

We currently have a vacancy for a Lead Instructor at our Frontier Centre in Northamptonshire. Applicants should hold the following qualifications:

GNAS
UKCC Level 2 Canoe & Kayak Coach
16 Hour First Aid
Single Pitch Award (SPA)

Salary starts at £16,625 per annum with increments added for specific qualifications.

Activity Instructor - Frontier Centre, Northants

Rock UK Adventure Centres Ltd is looking to appoint a full time Instructor for an immediate start at our centre in Irthlingborough, Northamptonshire.

This post is for a multi-activity instructor and the successful applicant should have the following minimum qualifications:

Single Pitch Award (SPA) or UKCC Level 2 canoe and kayak coach

Salary is around £13,500 per annum dependent on qualifications.

Fundraising Manager - Head Office, Northants

Rock UK is a Christian organisation that is passionate about transforming young lives by bringing adventure into outdoor learning. Every year over 50,000 young people from schools, churches and other groups visit one of Rock UK’s four activity centres spread throughout the country. Many children benefit from our bursary places which ensure that no one is left behind and every year we run an instructor training programme equipping young people with valuable life skills, discipleship and outdoor activity training.

To support Rock UK we are looking for an experienced fundraising manager who will pick up and lead on the design and implementation of diverse income generation streams including major donors, community fundraising, legacy, corporate partnerships and trusts.

We are looking for someone:

  • Who is an experienced and confident fundraiser with a successful track record of generating income.
  • Who has the ability to instigate and actively support a fundraising programme across a diverse range of income streams
  • Who has outstanding interpersonal, communication and relationship management skills
  • Who is able to write compelling content for a range of audiences

There is an Occupational Requirement (OR) that the person appointed to this role is a practising Christian as you will be required to appropriately represent Rock UK and its Christian ethos.

Your active Christian faith will enable you to demonstrate our Christian ethos and will see you working closely with Christian organisations, churches, schools and partner charities to generate awareness of Rock UK’s centres and our instructor training programme.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Develop detailed plans to reach fundraising potential from a range of income streams
  • Seek out new fundraising opportunities, relationships and networks
  • Build relationships with major donors or companies and make presentations
  • Raise awareness of the organisation’s work
  • Build, manage and facilitate the programme of fundraising activities, including mailings and events
  • Support trainee instructors to reach their individual fundraising targets
  • Provide an important link between the charity, business and local community
