Frontier Centre hosted the Peterborough Diocese Education Trust maths enrichment event.
The Peterborough Diocese Education Trust is a multi-academy trust of 30 schools across Northamptonshire and Rutland. The academies come together each year to host a maths enrichment event for year 5 pupils across the trust. The event includes a maths show by Kjartan Poskitt – author of the ‘Murderous Maths’ series and a number of workshops by Kjartan and ‘The Problem Solving Company’.
This year our Frontier Centre hosted the event over two consecutive days in June. The Frontier Centre was chosen as it can accommodate all pupils in the sports hall for the show and prize giving, and also has smaller meeting rooms and outdoor space for workshop activities as well as picnic and play area for pupils at lunchtime. In total, the Academy Trust brought 648 pupils and 87 staff members on site over the two days.
Whilst the event was running, staff enjoyed hearing the children’s excitement and fun as they worked on various maths challenges around the centre.
Elizabeth McLaverty, Peterborough Diocese Education Trust, said: “From the time of booking to the event itself, the Frontier staff were extremely helpful and worked with us to make the day a success. We visited the site beforehand to discuss our requirements and nothing was too much for them to arrange. On the day itself, everything was set up and ready for us. Frontier staff were on hand throughout the event to answer questions and assist with anything we needed.”
The feedback from academies across the Trust has been extremely positive with many commenting on how the venue influenced the success of the day.
“It was great to give the children the chance to experience maths outside of the classroom.”
“Great space that was easy to move around, easy to find everything, easy to access and not too far apart.”
“Overall, we were very impressed with the venue and staff and will be using the Frontier Centre again.”
